About Tim

Tim has been involved with the computer industry since 1978 when his father, Jay Rettig, founded Software Solutions in Lebanon, OH. Tim grew up working on mainframes from Cincinnati Milacron, Texas Instruments, and Sperry. In the 1980s he was involved with many XENIX and UNIX installations for cities throughout Ohio. In the early 1990’s Tim’s focus moved from serial communications toward Arcnet, token-ring and then Ethernet.  He experienced the movement of the industry from Lantastic to Novell and then to Microsoft.  In 1992 he started LAN Solutions as a networking services company to compliment his father’s software development company. The firm was involved with many challenging projects throughout the 1990’s, including Project Infoshare for the United States Department of Agriculture. In addition to network implementations, Tim partnered LAN Solutions with Houston-based Centurion Data Services, to open one of the first Internet Service Providers in the Cincinnati area.  LAN was also one of the first companies in the Cincinnati area to specialize in Lotus Notes and Domino. 

In recent years, LAN Solutions has become specialized in technologies from VMware, Microsoft and Citrix. LAN has completed many enterprise scale projects utilizing technologies from VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft. Over 100 organizations depend on consulting and services from Tim and LAN Solutions.

In addition to the business and technical achievements listed above, Tim was a featured speaker at the pcRetreat seminar series for 8 consecutive years. He was a co-host of the weekly radio show Max Bandwidth in 2000. He speaks at numerous technology events every year. His presentations are among the best rated at those events.

Tim is currently President of LAN Solutions, Inc. located in Blue Ash, Ohio.  He lives in Mason, Ohio with his wife and 2 children.
